1888 Leadership Camp
If you have a history of leadership across the high school years or are eager to do more with your education beyond the classroom starting at NMSU, the 1888 Leadership Camp may be for you. Meet the President and campus leadership team, actively explore your personal leadership potential, build new networks with like-minded peers in hands-on activities, and discover new opportunities that await you on campus with an early head start to life at NMSU!
Camp begins with early move-in and the Presidential welcome on the afternoon of Thursday August 13 and concludes on Saturday August 15. A Camp Graduate Recognition will take place at the Freshman Convocation scheduled for Sunday August 16.
The 1888 Leadership Camp is free and open to all first-time freshmen enrolled at the NMSU Las Cruces campus. Registration will be limited to the first 120 students to commit, so do please check your schedules and be ready to sign up when registration opens.
Registration for the 2026 1888 Leadership Initiative CAMP is now open
For students that are unable to join us for this camp experience, please know that the activities of the 1888 Leadership Initiative will continue through the academic year with the 1888 Leadership Series open to all interested NMSU students.
