The 1888 Leadership Initiative

New Mexico State University is invested in providing all Aggies the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills through the 1888 Leadership Initiative. The 1888 Leadership Initiative is guided by the AGGIES principles of Advocacy, Grit, Gratitude, Integrity, Execution and Service. The 1888 Leadership Initiative includes a Camp that provides opportunities for incoming freshmen to participate in leadership exercises prior to the start of the fall semester. The Freshman Convocation offers an opportunity for incoming freshmen along with their families and supporters to celebrate their entry into the Aggie Family. Activities for all Aggies continue throughout the academic year with the Leadership Series which brings local, state, regional and national leaders to campus to provide interactive workshops. The 1888 Leadership Seminar provides an opportunity for Camp graduates to continue their leadership development and engagement through a course offered by the Honors College. The 1888 Leadership Initiative serves as one of the foundations of student success at New Mexico State University with Initiative graduates taking student leadership roles and making a positive impact to campus life.
